Summer 2014 (to a point)

I'll skip the sad apologies that generally accompany the blog following a many month break, and I'll for SURE forgo those promises to blog more. (Though in truth I truly feel my blogging will have a chance to increase in non-college life.) Those previous claims were full of silly words from a sillier undergrad who consistently filled her every waking moment with activities in various amounts of nonsense. Let the general public know (oh ye 3-5 actual readers of my blog) that last spring I was pretty darn absorbed in killing my thesis so.... haters gon' hate.

As a brief overview of last spring: thesis thesis thesis class thesis thesis springbreak thesis thesis thesis class thesis defense graduation

That ought to cover it. Now to a more interesting time of year! Summer!

Post-graduation I crashed and I crashed HARD. I slept a lot, watched copious amounts of television, played tons of Minecraft and board games, and ate tasty Fayettefoods. It. Was. Marvelous. That lasted for a couple of lazy weeks. Throughout the whole summer I kept up my weekly babysitting gig, which gave me a reason to shower. Once the lazy period tapered off, Bryan and I began our many travels. (Families, weddings, etc.) Lots of road time and reading Harry Potter and John Green out loud. In mid-summer I held some chess lessons for several children ages 6–8, and it was a blast. I loved having an excuse to completely nerd out over chess strategies. Near the end of June, Bryan departed with many of my larger possessions in tow, and so ended all Fay bike trail adventures. I had another week to wrap up life in my beautiful city, and it was packed to the brim of hanging out with many people I love so dearly. After a challenging packing/cleaning period, I was out and back on the road

The Nomad Portion of the summer was comprised of visits to Shawnee, Norman, Tyler, Fort Worth, and Austin. I slept on many different surfaces and had some grand adventures. I highly recommend stand up paddle boarding to anyone given the opportunity; it's precisely what it sounds like. A very many tasty foods occurred along with more people I love so dearly. Then I went back to Fayettechill for a final night and final goodbyes.

During one of my last drives in town, I had a striking and emotional realization. A home is not a place in which one history, friends, a bunch of experiences, or even family. Home is where one has true belonging. I suddenly a experienced a surprising flood of existentialism, then immediately burst into tears. it was as if Google Earth was zooming quickly down to the pinpoint of my position, but strikingly my label flag in 1431 W. Junction said "Permanently closed".

I will skip the next couple of glorious weeks of DLA, but hopefully I can insert a blog of remembrance at a later time. It was classically delightful.

After nerd camp, I had about two-and-a-half days to crash before leaving for South Korea, which basically catches my blog to the present. My Korean thoughts are many, and I will immediately begin the draft to a blog from abroad.

Until then, I'll be Korea-ing pretty hard.

안녕히계세요!
